Over the past 40 years, China has undergone an extraordinary wave of urban development, reshaping its cities and redefining its architectural landscape. Professor He Jingtang has been at the forefront of this transformation, both as an architect and as a scholar, helping to pioneer a path of architectural innovation rooted in Chinese cultural identity. His theory of “Two Perspectives and Three Characteristics” establishes a framework that unites practice, teaching, and research, and has become a cornerstone of contemporary Chinese architectural thought.
In this lecture, Professor He delved into the principles of his design philosophy through a selection of his most notable works. He shared insights into the creative process that has both shaped his career and contributed to the evolution of China’s urban environment.
